Why and how ADaMSoft...
ADaMSoft was initially started as a simple prototype of such project, but later it was useful for several activities of the CASPUR statistical group (ADaMS group). The software has been developed till it became an interesting package which was tested and, finally, opened to the web community.
The name ADaMSoft stands for: Data Analysis and Statistical Modeling software (in italian: Analisi Dati e Modelli Statistici).
Since 2001 Marco Scarnò (the person in charge of the CASPUR statistical group) has been appointed as a member of the WinIDAMS International Technical Advisory Group (ITAG). WinIDAMS is a software package for the validation, manipulation and statistical analysis of data, developed by the UNESCO Secretariat in cooperation with experts from several countries. Since this year, all the ITAG members have recommended the creation of a Task Force, chaired by P. Hunya (Hungary) to prepare clear Terms of Reference (ToR) for developing WinIDAMS by the use of the Free Open Source model. The Task Force was set up early in 2002, and was composed by Péter Hunya, Marco Scarnò (CASPUR, Italy) and Jorge E. Estrada (ECI, Colombia). |
